What is the Arkansas Children's Program Administrator Orientation?

The state of Arkansas understands the importance of the child care director/administrator’s position to the future of our children and to our state. In support of the position, new directors are required to attend new director’s orientation within six months of employment.

Essential to the success of center directors is finding the information they need and developing a network of peers who share and understand their responsibilities. The new director’s orientations the first step toward both of these objectives.

The topics in this series of trainings will assist center director in fulfilling his/her administrative duties. Content for the three (3) six (6) hour sessions include:

  • Effective Organizational Management
  • Staffing for Success
  • Effective Supervision
  • Program Development
  • Family and Community Relations
  • Professional Development
  • Basics of Legal and Financial Management
  • Effective Communication

The curriculum is designed to meet the needs of center directors and administrators at the BASIC level designated by the Arkansas Early Childhood Professional Development Spectrum. The sessions and manual refer to their designated Competency Areas with emphasis in Creating Caring Communities to Support Learning and Development, Program Management and Communication.
